Army Fitness Test Passing Standards (AFT) — Score Cheat Sheet

Filter the Army AFT passing standards by General or Combat table, age group and sex. Compare the exact 60-point minimum, first published threshold worth at least 70 points, and 100-point maximum for all five current events and authorized alternate aerobic events.

Event Name Standard Minimum (60 Pts) At-Least-70 Benchmark Max Score (100 Pts)
General Minimum Passing Composite: 300 Pts (60-pt floor per event) Combat MOS Qualified: ≥ 350 Composite Total (70% avg, 60-pt individual event floor)

Standardized Test Lane Evaluation

Record testing depends on consistent equipment, event order, lane setup, grader instructions and repetition standards. A valid raw performance must be converted through the applicable published table rather than estimated from a few benchmark values.

The official AFT Scoring Scales were approved May 15, 2025 and took effect June 1, 2025. The interactive table above reads the same point-by-point data.

How the General and Combat Passing Rules Work

The General standard is simple: score at least 60 points in each of the five events. Five scores of 60 produce the minimum passing total of 300. A high total cannot rescue a failed event; 100, 100, 100, 100 and 59 totals 459 but still fails because one event is below 60.

The Combat standard adds a total-score requirement for the Army's 21 designated combat specialties:

The at-least-70 column is a planning benchmark because five 70-point scores total 350. It displays the first published raw threshold worth at least 70; when the official table has no separate value at exactly 70, that performance can earn more than 70. It is not a rule that every non-profiled Combat event must individually score 70. For permanent profiles, Combat compliance uses the current performed-event averaging and alternate-event rule shown in the profile calculator.

What a Failed Event Means

On this page, “fail” means the entered performance maps to fewer than 60 points or the total misses the applicable minimum. The administrative response, counseling, retest date and personnel-record action are separate command processes. They depend on the Soldier's component, status, current policy and official record.

Use the calculator to identify the event and point deficit, then confirm the official retest requirement with unit test staff. Do not rely on a generic online 45-, 90- or 180-day statement to schedule a record test.

How to Use the 60, 70 and 100 Columns

60 points is the event minimum. At least 70 points is a useful performance benchmark and helps explain the 350-point Combat total. 100 points is the maximum credit for an event; performance beyond that threshold does not increase the 500-point AFT total.

For timed events, a lower time is better. For repetitions and deadlift weight, a higher raw result is better. Alternate aerobic events are GO/NO-GO: completing the authorized event within the applicable maximum time provides the required 60-point equivalent rather than a 61–100 scale.

Frequently Asked Questions: AFT Passing Standards

The current five-event AFT requires at least 60 points in every event, producing a minimum passing total of 300 out of 500. Earning 59 points or fewer in any required event is an overall failure.
The result is an overall failure. Four 100-point scores cannot compensate for an event below the 60-point floor. The official record and unit instructions determine the follow-up and retest process.
A Soldier in one of the 21 designated combat specialties must earn at least 60 points in every event and at least 350 points total, using the sex-neutral Combat scoring tables.
No. A non-profiled Combat-standard Soldier needs at least 60 points in each event and 350 points total. The 70-point column is a useful benchmark, but the total and individual-event floor are separate rules.
