1. The Five Scored AFT Events
The current Army Fitness Test scores the 3-Repetition Maximum Deadlift (MDL), Hand-Release Push-Up–Arm Extension (HRP), Sprint-Drag-Carry (SDC), Plank (PLK), and Two-Mile Run (2MR). Each event is worth up to 100 points, so the maximum composite score is 500. The Standing Power Throw belonged to the retired six-event ACFT and is not part of the current five-event AFT.
2. Raw Performance Becomes an Event Score
Age group, sex, event, and raw performance identify a value in the published scoring table. Repetitions, weight, and plank time reward higher performance; SDC and two-mile run reward lower times. The tables contain discrete thresholds. If a raw result falls between two published thresholds, it receives the lower earned point value—scores are not linearly interpolated.
Example: if one table awards 70 points at 190 pounds and 71 points at 200 pounds, a 195-pound deadlift earns 70, not 70.5. The AFT Calculator performs this threshold lookup for all five events.
3. General Standard: 300 Total and 60 Per Event
Most specialties use the General standard. Its scoring scale is age- and sex-normed. To pass, a Soldier must earn at least 60 points in every required event and at least 300 points total. A high total cannot erase an event failure: 100, 100, 100, 100, and 59 totals 459 but still fails.
4. Combat Standard: 350 Total and 60 Per Event
The Army's 21 designated Combat specialties use a sex-neutral, age-normed scale. The Soldier must earn at least 60 in every event and at least 350 total. Seventy points in every event produces 350, but 70 is an average—not a separate floor for each event.
Passing example: 60 + 68 + 72 + 75 + 75 = 350, with no event below 60. Failing example: 59 + 71 + 73 + 73 + 74 also totals 350, but the 59 fails the event floor. See the Combat MOS requirements and complete specialty list.
5. Profiles and Alternate Aerobic Events
A current DA Form 3349 controls which events a Soldier may perform and whether an alternate aerobic event is authorized. Alternate events use age- and sex-based pass/fail cutoffs rather than the two-mile run's graded point scale. For a permanent-profile Soldier under the Combat standard, the Army requires an average of at least 70 across the events the Soldier can perform and a passing alternate event when one is required. Use the AFT Profile Calculator for that distinct calculation.
6. Record the Exact Raw Result
Record the measured event result first, then the point value returned by the official table. Do not round a run or SDC time down, add an unearned repetition, or interpolate between rows. The calculator preserves the raw input and displays the resulting event points, total, and pass/fail checks separately.
