Army AFT Promotion Points Calculator

Enter your five-event AFT total to see its Table 3-4 promotion-point value and the next score band. A record test must also meet the applicable General or Combat standard, including at least 60 points in each required event. Your official personnel record determines the points used for promotion.

The selector checks the total threshold for an ordinary five-event test only. Authorized medical profiles follow separate performed-event and alternate-event requirements. This tool cannot verify individual event minimums, profile compliance or your official record.

How an AFT Score Converts to Promotion Points

AR 600-8-19, dated 6 March 2026, lists the AFT conversion in Table 3-4. The table applies a published point value to the Soldier’s five-event total; it is not a percentage calculation and it is not the old six-event ACFT conversion.

If you are looking for an AFT score-to-promotion-points calculator, enter the actual five-event AFT total above rather than an individual event score. This Army AFT promotion points calculator handles the fitness-test conversion only; it does not calculate a complete Promotion Point Worksheet (PPW), which also includes other qualifying categories and official personnel records.

Need to calculate your AFT points first? Use the five-event AFT score calculator to total your event points, then enter that total here. A legacy ACFT result came from a different six-event test; the AFT conversion table cannot turn an old ACFT total into a current promotion-point award. See the historical ACFT standards when interpreting an older scorecard.

The lookup works as follows:

The Army’s current AFT guidance requires at least 60 points in each required event. General needs 300 total, while Combat needs 350 total. These passing rules are separate from looking up a Table 3-4 band.

AFT Score-to-Promotion-Point Examples

Use the exact band containing the total score. Do not interpolate within a band.

AFT total Promotion points What it means
300–304 1 First General total band; event scores must also qualify
350–354 30 Same award anywhere inside the band
400–404 60 Mid-table example
450–454 90 Next increase begins at 455
500 120 Maximum AFT and promotion-point value

Permanent Profiles and Alternate Events

For promotion-score treatment, keep the actual score for every event performed. Enter 60 points for each waived event and for a passed authorized alternate aerobic event. Add those five entries to create the AFT composite used in Table 3-4. Do not average the events taken and do not multiply that average to create a 500-point total.

Example: a Soldier scores 72, 68, 75 and 70 on four performed events and has one waived event. The promotion composite is 72 + 68 + 75 + 70 + 60 = 345. A total of 345–349 converts to 27 promotion points.

Why Does My PPW Show a Different Number?

Use this checklist before comparing the lookup with an official worksheet:

  1. Confirm you entered the recorded five-event AFT composite, not an ACFT total or a single event score.
  2. Check whether your test met the applicable General or Combat standard, including the required event minimums. The total by itself is insufficient.
  3. Compare the AFT entry on your official record with the PPW and allow for any pending personnel-system update.
  4. If the record or PPW still differs, ask your unit personnel staff to review the recorded test and promotion data.

Using the Result Correctly

This page performs the Table 3-4 arithmetic only. It does not establish whether a test is valid, whether a record has posted to IPPS-A, whether the Soldier is otherwise promotable, or what the monthly cutoff score will be. Check the official personnel record and current promotion guidance before relying on the number for a packet.

Frequently Asked Questions: Army Promotion Points

A 500 AFT score earns the maximum 120 promotion points in Table 3-4. The current five-event AFT cannot exceed 500 points.
A total from 450 through 454 earns 90 promotion points. The table converts score bands rather than awarding a fixed fraction of a point for every AFT point.
No. Most totals are grouped into five-point bands. For example, 400 through 404 all earn 60 promotion points, while 405 through 409 earn 63.
Use the actual points from each performed event and enter 60 for each waived event or passed alternate aerobic event. Add the five entries, then convert that composite through Table 3-4; do not prorate the performed-event average.
This tool shows the Table 3-4 lookup for the total you enter. It cannot check every event’s minimum, validate a record test, or confirm your PPW has updated. Compare the recorded five-event total and applicable standard, then ask your unit personnel staff to review any remaining discrepancy.
