Army AFT Alternate Aerobic Events
Check the current pass/fail cutoff for a profile-authorized 5,000-meter row, 12,000-meter stationary bike, 1,000-meter swim, or 2.5-mile walk. Cutoffs vary by age group and sex.

Row Calculator →1,000m Swim Calculator
Compare a 1,000-meter swim time with the applicable age- and sex-based standard.
Swim Calculator →12,000m Bike Calculator
Check a stationary-bike time against the exact cutoff for the Soldier's demographic group.
Bike Calculator →2.5-Mile Walk Calculator
Check a 2.5-mile walk time without relying on a single all-ages cutoff.
Walk Calculator →Who Takes an Alternate Aerobic Event?
An alternate event is not an elective substitute for the two-mile run. The Soldier's current DA Form 3349 must authorize the specific alternate aerobic event. Test personnel should follow the profile instructions and current Army test-administration guidance when deciding whether the event may be used on a record test.
How Alternate Events Are Scored
Alternate aerobic events are recorded as pass or fail rather than on the two-mile run's 60-to-100-point scale. The calculator therefore compares the entered time with the selected age-and-sex cutoff. A time equal to or faster than the cutoff passes; a slower time fails. Passing the alternate event satisfies the aerobic-event requirement, but it does not create a higher performance score.
Important: a fixed statement such as “all men must finish the row in 25:00” is not current. The published tables contain ten age groups and separate male and female values. Each calculator displays the exact applicable time and the complete table for its event.
Using an Alternate Event With a Permanent Profile
General-standard and Combat-standard profile calculations are not identical. For the Combat standard, the Army requires a permanent-profile Soldier to average at least 70 points across the scored events the Soldier can perform and to pass an alternate aerobic event when the profile requires one. Use the AFT Profile Calculator to combine performed, waived, and alternate events without treating the alternate event as a conventional 60-to-100 score.
